Great article Susana, thanks for writing this! There’s always lots of talk about the American medical system, but the reasons we ended up here seem to always be glossed over/misinterpreted (People thinking the insurance lobby is solely to blame!) Excited for the podcast :)
Thank you! Yes, it's easy to point fingers when we don't have all of the information, but I want more of us to approach what we don't know with curiosity instead and choose to broaden our scope of knowledge.
While you're here, let us know if there's anything you want covered on the pod!!
Definitely on board with that outlook! For the pod, I’d love to hear more about what RFK Jr.’s true authority will be as HHS Secretary. There’s been a lot of talk about his ability to change things such as vaccine and birth control access, as well as what ingredients are allowed in the food on our shelves, as well as more bearish takes on whether or not things will change at all. It’s another topic where I feel reporting has been fairly inconclusive—and maybe we don’t actually know, given the norms-defying nature of the new Trump presidency so far—but I’d love to hear an informed discussion about the kind of influence he realistically has in his new position. I’d also like to hear your take on Amazon’s (fairly) new medical insurance program, in addition to the emergence of tech startups offering prescription services, such as Hims and Hers. Is broader and more convenient access to these drugs a net positive, or negative? Would love to hear your thoughts!
